CLAN'S MOOD BOARD FOR UPCOMING COLLECTION

Hello Beautiful People!

Not many people know what a mood board is so I'll just explain as best as I can. A mood board is a . . . opens new tab and googles the word  . . . okay, found the word I was looking for, a collage, but it doesn't end there; it doesn't have to be a picture collage. It can be a collage of pictures, colours, notes, fabrics or objects, pretty much anything that is a source of inspiration for a project and in this case, a collection. It's like a scrapbook, only that its more 'purposeful' if I may say, because it shows a thought process and tells a story.

Speaking on the purposefulness of mood boards, they keep you in line when working on a collection. Most times, people work backwards by first sketching before creating a mood board but a mood board should be the very first thing that should be done when working on a collection. A mood board sets the tone for the collection. Its a collection of ideas which enables you design a cohesive collection. This means that at the end of the day, people should be able to draw dots connecting your mood board and finished designs.

I believe everyone has a general idea of mood boards but let me just add, mood boards can be physical or digital and are not restricted to fashion designers, they can be used by graphic designers, interior decorators, wedding/event planners and in branding and just about anyone who is developing an idea for a project. When words fail or aren't enough, let your mood board help you or your client visualize.

Now, to what inspired this write-up, the mood board for the upcoming CLAN collection, and just looking at it, my mind races at the possible interpretation, what are these ladies up to? I could play a guessing game but why not wait to be blown away? Surely, with time, we all will get clarity.
